Rings carry on ringing. And mutant cucumber dissection.

The rings keep doin’ their thing. This is not an action-packed entry, since there is not a lot of (read: any) discernible progress. I read that when they photodegrade, these things get brittle so they break into little pieces that don’t get wrapped ’round the wildlife. This has plusses and minuses, if you ask me. This means there are more bits of plastic sloshing around the ecosystem.

And I swear, though I can’t find it now, that I read that the degraded material is extra toxic, though the manufacturer disagrees. Of course the manufacturer disagrees, you’re thinking, while rolling your eyes. But I figure it’s even less in their interest to be caught lying about such things, so I’m prone to believe them – pending a little more reading.

On another subject, we tossed the Enormous Orange Cucumber that is Not a Euphamism yesterday, first salvaging the seeds. Apparently the orange (also known as “overripe”) ones are used for this purpose by people who know their grass from a hole in the ground.

Omigod. I can’t believe I just typed that.
