It sounds like he made three mistakes, and they were whoppers. 1) He didn't patent the idea 2) he overpriced them rather than selling to more people at a much lower price and 3) he didn't come up with a name that resonated with people. It's great he's taking the "no big deal" attitude, but if he had done those three things, he would be a very, very wealthy person. Hopefully he still is.
