You’re already in the pool, Princess.

I don’t remember this one happening, but Spouse swears it’s a story I told him. I was lounging by a pool in lovely Palm Beach, Florida, within easy overhearing distance of a mom who was monitoring the play of a few kids. One of the little boys swam up to her near tears, whine/crying:

“Moooom! Peter splashed meeeeee!”

Mom replied wearily, “You’re already in the pool, Princess.”

And to me that seems to be what this whole crazy thing we call life is all about. You’re already in the pool. Now get on with things.
