Now Reading: Lit by Mary Karr

I’ve chosen Mary Karr’s memoir Lit to kick off 2010. If you’ve read any of Karr’s previous memoirs, Cherry, or The Liar’s Club, you know that she is a powerful writer who unflinchingly shares the best and worst of human nature, including the sticky, filthy and the divine.
How BookGraf Works
Like everything else in my life, this is kind of an experiment.
I like books and love getting suggestions for good reads. I also really enjoyed an awesome and casual book club that I had the good fortune to stumble upon a few years ago. Eventually, it kind of petered out as people got busy, schedules changed, babies occurred, etc. And so now I’m starting an even lower impact model – hoping to provide some good reading ideas to folks who are interested, and to solicit the sharp and engaging recommendations I crave.
At the beginning of each month, a book will be selected (recommendations, suggestions or lively demands welcome!) and announced here and on the Super Exciting BookGraf Facebook page.
A few weeks later, to give folks a chance to read the book if they are so inclined, a review will be posted here and comments invited.
Maybe it’ll turn into a conversation, maybe it will be a minor annoyance. Hopefully it’ll be useful to some who are seeking ideas for good books to read.
