Cancer is an Asshole: Amazing. $22.34

It’s really amazing that this is still going on. How many online campaigns have we all witnessed, participated in, or (ahem) managed that started off strong and then petered out almost instantly? We’ve dwindled a bit from the beginning months, and I’d be stunned if we didn’t. But honestly – to generate a double digit donation to the American Cancer Society each and every month? That is just amazing. You are just amazing.

I can think of no better way to celebrate Rosh Hashanah than by telling cancer to get lost. The High Holidays were very important to my grandmother (lung cancer) and grandfather (lymphoma). It is not to my credit that I’ve blown them off for the last couple of years. Despite my behavior, my Jewish heritage is important to me. Or at least central in some indescribable ways to my identity. And central to Judiasm is our duty to perform mitzvot – or good deeds. This is one little good deed that I love. It costs nothing but a moment of attention and the reward is knowing that you’ve sent a little spark of good into the world. Good for you.
